iThera Medical hosts Prof. Dr Vasilis Ntziachristos of TU München for invited talk December 10th

December 8th, 2020|

On behalf of IEEE EMB Student Chapter from TU München, iThera Medical is hosting Prof. Dr Vasilis Ntziachristos of TU München to deliver a talk about Optoacoustics – a novel and promising medical imaging modality. The one-hour special event will be delivered free, online, Thursday, December 10th, 2020 at 4:00 GMT/5:00 PM CET/11:00 AM EST. Register here.

iThera MedicalOptoacoustic Imaging is a biomedical, non-invasive imaging modality based on the optoacoustic effect. It uses optical excitation and ultrasound detection (light in – sound out) to generate in-vivo images of tissue morphology and function. The technology has now advanced to bring fundamentally new abilities to optical imaging that result in high-resolution visualization much deeper than what is allowed by optical microscopy. This emerging imaging modality can bring solutions to a number of unmet clinical need in cancer, cardiovascular or metabolic diagnostics.

Prof. Dr Vasilis Ntziachristos is a Full Professor of Medicine and Electrical Engineering and holds the Chair of Biological Imaging at the Technical University of Munich. He is also the Director of the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. Ntziachristos is a globally recognized pioneer and entrepreneur in biomedical imaging. His area of research encompasses the development of new methods and devices for biological and medical imaging focusing on innovative non-invasive approaches that visualize previously unseen physiological and molecular processes […]
